Families should be encouraged and equipped to have high expectations for their child's future and to participate actively in all parts of transition planning. 


        Without strong family support and participation, students with disabilities are less likely to seek and succeed in competitive employment. When parents are actively involved in planning for their child's future, from the earliest years onward, employment and post-secondary education outcomes improve
